The Railway Recruitment Board of Ajmer has conducted exams for various posts of NTPC graduates against the CEN No. 01/2019 for the posts of Commercial Apprentice, Traffic Apprentice, Goods Guard, Senior Clerk – cum – typist, and assistant station master which had vacancies around 1088 seats. The tests were conducted computer-based, which had two stages – one conducted from 28-03-2019 to 03-05-2019 and the second stage was conducted from 17-01-2019 to 19-30-2019, typing skill (TST) conducted on 29-06-2019 and aptitude test which was held on 30.06.2019.

The results for the prelims exams or the First Stage CBT conducted by RRB Ajmer Recruitment 2018 – 2019 and the main exam, which is the second stage conducted for 2018 – 2019 of the selection process are been declared followed by the verification of the documents and the genuineness of the candidate which took place from 28-08-2019 to 06-10-2019 and on 09-10-2019, 11-10-2019 and 16-10-2019, are declared as against CEN No. 01/2019 after document verification.


Commercial Apprentice in the North Western Railway – For the post,  about 16 candidates were provisionally empaneled.

For Traffic Apprentice in the North Western Railway, 44 candidates were selected.

195 candidates were shortlisted for the Goods Guard in the North Western Railway Zone.

For the Goods Guard post for the West Central Railway, 320 candidates have been selected.

However, only 2 candidates could make it through the two-step selection process for the post of Senior Clerk – cum – typist in the West Central Railway as well as in the North Western Railway.

A long list of 337 candidates was selected for the Assistant Station Master post in the North Western Railway.

And 96 candidates for the same above post in the West Central Railway.

However, the above-mentioned number of selected and enlisted candidates is purely provisional empanelment and they would go through certain medical tests and antecedent verification and other such processes, in the end, deciding their selection in finality.

The letters of appointment would be issued by the respective Railways, which is either the North Western Railways or the West Central Railways.

Withheld results

The results of certain candidates are withheld and also as against the vacancy of one post for Assistant Station Master for SC category for the outcome of the S.B. Civil Writ Petition No. 9629/2019.

Also, the vacancy for the posts of assistance station master in the North Western and also in the West Central Railways for Ex-servicemen are kept withheld for the outcome of O.A. No. 290/386/2019.

Cut-off percentage

The cut-off marks in percentage for all the exams conducted did not go below 70 percent in consideration with the post, railway as well as the community. However, the ExS’s least percentage of cut off would be 47% for the post of Assistant Station Master and the highest of approximately 78% for the post of Traffic Apprentice.

The UR category candidates and the OBC category candidates have a minute difference in the cut-off percentage only with one percent, which ranges around eighty to ninety percent.

But the cut off marks are not the sole basis for selection or for document verifications, rather it is provisional, and it may be liable to vary and is subject to change depending on the merit as well the preference of posts on account of absentees or rejections during the verification etc.

There may also be candidates who have not been shortlisted for document verification even after scoring above the cut off marks. It may either be due to the limited number of posts of the choice of the unselected candidate or due to non-qualification in Aptitude or the Typing Skill Test.

There may be male or female candidates, but a few posts which involve with duties that are arduous in nature and the call for working in shifts at odd hours, at the roadside or away from the headquarters, are not in the scope for women candidates.

The students from different categories also had the facility to apply against the UR vacancies. In those cases, no age relaxation will be allowed to other categories candidates if they apply against the UR vacancies.

The vacancies of ex-servicemen and persons with disability are not separated but are included in the total number of vacancies except that they may get special privilege.
